We have received positive feedback on the fish sampling system FishMeter. But often marine researchers and fishery observers and fishery inspectors experience limited work space either on a fishing boat or they are in need of a handy sampling system while they work in the field. Scantrol has now solved this problem by making the electronic measuring board wireless.

The wireless FishMeter, here shown in 50 centimeter.
The new wireless FishMeter is designed to operate in tough conditions where space is limited and power is not available. The wireless FishMeter transmits data directly to ones mobile or PDA, and gives one feedback in the earpiece at the same time. This gives the user full focus on the fish sampling. Data is stored into the Windows Excel programme on the PDA. Bluetooth technology allows for connection with the mobile, PDA or PC. No cables will come in the way.
- The complete mobility we can offer the users with this new development, makes fish sampling even more easily thanks to Bluetooth technology, and solves space problems at the same time, says Helge Hammersland, Managing Director of Scantrol AS.
The new wireless FishMeter is ideal for marine researchers, fishery observers and fishery inspector with limited workspace. The measuring board suits perfect for use on commercial vessels, at fish markets or working out in the field. The operation time is up to 20 hours and 30 days standby, and charges with 4 AA Alkaline batteries.
With a Windows Mobile, one can use 40 parameters and 40 sequences and choose between 100 species, and it’s all stored into Windows Excel. The material is POM and is IP67 waterproof.
The complete mobility makes the sampling easy and convenient.
This new wireless FishMeter comes in 50 cm, 100cm and 120 cm, and is delivered with a magnetic marker and software to get started right away with the fish sampling.
